Very little is known about the most famous, most notorious pirate ever named Blackbeard. He was educated and could read and write. In the old days people were clean which meant that they had no facial hair so this is how Blackbeard got his nickname. People state that Blackbeard was a large, tall man with a long black beard which he braided and tied with colored ribbons on the ends. The ribbons would give him a look that would make anyone because they were dipped into what they say was lime water and salt peter and leave it or put it under his hat if he decided to put it on his hair. When he lit his hair or his beard it would give him a mean evil look because smoke would surround his head. Blackbeard was actually British people think he may have been born before the 1690's. His real name was actually Edward Teach but everyone called him Blackbeard.

Blackbeard also had a ship named Queen Anns Revenge which people say she was captured in 1717 right off of the Bahamas. The ship was very special to Blackbeard he even mounted what they call blunderbusses on his decks.On September 29, 1717 Blackbeard stopped a ship named Betty and relieved her of all of her cargo. Blackbeard had alot of ships on each one of these ships he had plenty of guns and other weapons to be ready at any time someone decided to try to attack which mostly people were to scared to even come around him.The sight of Blackbeard made most people relinquished without a fight. If they did not even try to fight, he would usually take their valuables, navigational instruments, weapons, and rum before allowing them to leave.
In November 22nd ,1718 near Ocracoke Island Blackbeard fought a hard fight and had 5 or more gunshots and alot of stabs. After they killed him they cut off his head and tied it on a bowspirit off of his boat. People said that when Blackbeard was killed that they threw him in the ocean and his body swam around the boat 3 times. Blackbeard was one of the most dangerous pirates and is now known as one of the most famous pirates in North Carolina. He has also been so famous that he has had people make books especially on him. Blackbeard has now been dead 292 years what a battle he went through and how many people love him for who he is.
