Mecklenburg and Halifax Resolves

In the years of the 1700's The Committee of Safety in Mecklenburg County did more protesting against the British attacks than any other one that has ever happened. When the Mecklenburg leaders came together to discuss the recent events and this happened at a place called Queen's Academy. The statements that the committee announced was later called the Mecklenburg Resolves. Later on when the the local leaders chose who to be the new leaders themselves the residents all of a sudden realized that this meant that Mecklenburg was becoming " free and idependent" of all the British authority. In the Halifax Resolves it was quite different when William Hooper a very delegate person to the Continental Congress wrote home saying " it would be Toryism to hint the possibility of future reconciliation." In 1776 in the month of April the Provincial Congress decided that the whole province should actually follow the example that the Mecklenburg county set. On the date April 12,1776, the Provincial Congress passed the Halifax Resolves when this happened it put all of the feelings about the liberty and the freedom that the North Carolinians had been discussing for many years and put them all together. The date that this happened is the second date on the state flag. The Resolves made the delegates in Philadephia to join other colonies in seeking there independence.

The Declaration Of Independence

The Declaration of Independence was written in the year 1776 by a man named Thomas Jefferson. The Declaration is a document that was a formal explanation of why the congress had actually voted to declare independence from Britian and this happened on July 2. The United States like every person also has a birthday this date is on July 4 which was the day which the wording of the declaration was approved. The Declaration was a document that has wording in it that involves natural rights and also including the right of revolution. After they accepted the wording on July 4 they came out with many different forms. It was officially printed as broadside which was widely distributed and also read to the public. The most famous form of the Declaration of Independence is on display at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. I really appreciate the leadership and forsight of these men. Because of them, we have our freedom today.
