Most white North Carolinians owned there own farms. But only a couple owned slaves and only the ones that were the top tenth of familys were considered wealthy. And also most of the states citizens were yeomen this meant that they worked the land they or some other family member owned. They organized there life around three things these three things were the seasons, families and also there neighborhoods. The accepted starting point for making a family and a farm was marriage. Most women married in there late teens but now some people wait till they are 30 years old. Weddings were almost always simple and were held at the home of the brides house. It is also faithful that when they get married after it the grooms ride away with their brides to the accompaniment of gunfire. They never took a honeymoon and they immediatly went to there parents and lived or went to their own house. The Yeoman only grew what they needed to have.

Slaves

Slaves were not just farmers they had many other jobs some that were actually not as bad than others. These jobs included Taking care of the family and there house also taking care of the farms. They were african american and usually worked on big plantations. Some slaves were beaten and not fed as well as they needed to be. Slaves and Yeoman farmers were very different slaves were not free at all. There were many slaves back in the 1700's to the 1800's . Slaves usually did not have wives and if they did and they had children the master owned them and when the master wanted the kid to work he would have to work it did not matter what age the child was neither the gender. Slaves did not always just work in the fields some also took care of the masters children and cooked as well as cleaned. Slaves are well known in this point in time even though we do not have any plantations or anything around anymore.
